Town Sells Lot 8 of Mach One

October 2005 - The Town of Suffield sold the last of fourteen building lots, Lot 8, in the Mach One Industrial Park today. The purchaser for the 2.53 acre parcel was MLM Properties, LLC and the purchase price was $40,000. The principals in MLM are Mattie Montefusco, a Suffield resident, and Michael Lefebvre, a Simsbury attorney. The sale of the lot was approved by the Suffield Economic Development Commission (EDC), the Board of Selectmen, and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). DECD approval was necessary as the State partnered with Suffield in the development of Mach One. MLM plans to build a 16,500 s.f. spec building with access being provided off of Kenny Roberts Memorial Drive. The developers are banking on their belief that the Bradley International Airport area market is very strong and that they will have no difficulty finding a tenant or tenants for the building. The developers have been in contact with Kiran Jain, Director of Marketing and Development for Bradley International, and other real estate professionals in the area to secure tenant leads for the project. Howard Orr, Chairman of the EDC, stated that, “MLM’s concept plan shows an attractive building that will complement the existing buildings in Mach One. We are pleased that MLM has the confidence in Suffield and the airport market to build the project on spec.”

MLM is in the process of selecting a builder for the project. Once a builder is on board, then MLM will proceed through the local approval process which includes the Water Pollution Control Authority, Conservation Commission and Zoning and Planning Commission.

Existing businesses in Mach One include Poulin Enterprises, Kelly Container, Zanger Polish Pottery, Advest, Metal Finish & Supply, Tittarelli Inc., International Surface Preparation, Hilltop Technologies, Jonsers Express and KV Technologies.

Scott Lingenfelter, First Selectmen, who signed the deed on behalf of the town, stated that “The tax payers in town are the real beneficiaries of this sale and the development of Mach One. I look forward to working with our Economic Development Commission on more projects like this so that we can diversify our tax base.”

MLM will build to suit. Contact Michael Lefebvre at (860) 805-2162.
