Payments

Taxes are due July 1 and January 1. Both copies of the bills are mailed in July. There will be no bill sent for the January payment. As with all current municipal taxes, you have until the first business day of the following month to pay your taxes without interest. Interest is calculated at a rate of 1 ½ % per month from the due date (18% annually). The minimum interest charge is $2.00.

For example, if a bill is paid August 4th the interest rate is 3% - 1 ½% for July and 1 ½% for August.

AVOID LINES - PAY BY MAIL
Payment By Mail: A self-addressed stamped envelope is required if you wish to have a receipt. Make checks payable to the Town of Suffield. You may pay multiple bills with one check, except delinquent motor vehicle taxes. All outstanding motor vehicle tax bills must be paid by cash, money order or certified check before we will issue you a motor vehicle clearance.

Helpful Hints: When making an address change with the Department of Motor Vehicles, be sure to change both your license and registration.

When requesting a Motor Vehicle adjustment, please bring proof with you to the Assessor's office. Some acceptable types of proof are: plate receipt with affidavit, bill of sale, letter from your insurance company showing the date and reason for the change, out-of-state registration.

On your registration be sure to check the town tax code. Suffield is 139. Hopefully, this will prevent you from being taxed by the wrong town.
