Probate Court
A principal function of the Probate Court is to supervise the administration of estates of deceased persons, whether they died testate (with a will) or intestate (without a will). The Probate Court also has jurisdiction over appointments of trustees, conservators, guardians, temporary custody, name changes, marriage waivers, adoptions, termination of parental rights, paternity matters, and compromise of claims against various estates. The court also processes passport applications.
