Community Center
Goals | Project Plans
The Board of Selectmen in January 2002 created the Community Center Steering Committee to plan for the construction of a new indoor recreational facility in the community. Extensive research and planning has been conducted over the last five years. A decision was made to disband the Steering Committee as a nonprofit organization, Suffield Community Center Association, Inc. has been established with its own Board of Directors. The Association is now investigating the possibility of adding a pool to Suffield High School in close proximity to the current gymnasium and weight room. Meetings
The Association Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the lower meeting room of the Suffield Town Hall. The Association welcomes volunteers to help on any committee. For more information, please feel free to attend the next meeting or call Kristin Karam at 668-2440. The following is the mission statement and goals of the Community Center Steering Committee.
Mission The residents of Suffield have identified the need for additional facilities to meet the recreational and social desires of the community. The vision is to construct a Suffield Community Center where residents can meet, recreate, and develop and share their talents. Such a facility will be of high quality design, meet the community's needs for the foreseeable future, and be developed in a fiscally responsible way. The Association plans on working in collaboration with Town Boards and Commissions, regional and state agencies, businesses, civic groups, and residents to develop a facility that the community can point to with pride. Donations Your tax-deductible donation can be sent to Suffield Community Center Association, Inc., P.O. Box 401, Suffield, CT 06078. Donations, large and small, are gratefully accepted. |
