Suffield, Conn. – The Suffield Police Department proudly announces the appointment of Richard D. Brown as Chief of Police. A twenty year Suffield Police veteran, Brown’s tenure includes positions as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Deputy Chief. As both Captain and Deputy Chief, Brown worked closely with Superintendent of Police Services Anthony Riello to successfully rebuild the department and morale over the last two years. First Selectman Melissa M. Mack fully endorses the decision, adding, “Chief Brown has been a loyal public servant and steadfast member of the Suffield Police Department, always supporting the Town of Suffield and putting safety first. His leadership and management skills, as well as his in-depth knowledge of how the Police Department works, particularly on the operational side, make him uniquely qualified to continue to move the department forward. The Town will be well served by his promotion.” Chief Brown was affirmed by a unanimous vote of the Suffield Police Commission.
A graduate of Westfield State with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Chief Brown continues to augment his expertise with advanced education coursework in policing. The Town of Suffield extends its gratitude and congratulations to Chief Brown and his family.
