9/10/2017 - Public calling hours for Dustin Doyon - Monday, September 11th 4-8 p.m. - Parking and Traffic Advisory

    Subject:
    Traffic and Parking Advisory
Monday September 11, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Police are anticipating significant traffic delays in the area of Route 159 (East Street North) just north of the intersection with Route 190 / Veteran’s Bridge during afternoon rush hour on Monday September 11, 2017.

Public calling hours to honor the life of U.S. Navy Electronics Technician 2nd Class Dustin L. Doyon are being held at the Nicholson and Carmon Funeral Home located at this intersection. Increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic is anticipated to cause lengthy delays and traffic congestion.

The southbound lane of East Street North (Rt. 159) will be temporarily closed from Thompsonville Road south to Route 190 (the Enfield-Suffield Veterans Bridge). The detour route provided for southbound traffic travelling on East Street North (Rt. 159) will be:

    • Thompsonville Road westbound to Mapleton Avenue
    • West on Mapleton Avenue to North Main Street (Rt. 75).

Detour signs and police officers will be present to assist motorists.

The Suffield Police encourage motorists to avoid this area and plan on using alternate routes on Monday afternoon and during the evening commute.

For those members of the public who plan on attending the public calling hours, all parking will be at Suffield Middle School located at 350 Mountain Road Suffield, Connecticut. No public parking is available at the Nicholson Carmon Funeral Home.

Shuttle buses will be continually running from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. between the school and funeral home to safely and conveniently transport persons wishing to pay their respects to and from Nicholson-Carmon Funeral Home. This off-site parking area at Suffield Middle School will be staffed by Suffield public safety personnel who will provide any assistance and support needed by the public.

Please contact the Suffield Police Department with questions or concerns at (860) 668 3870.
